Summer Fun!

We have been spending some time at the pool this last week. Bailey swam for her first time and seemed to be ok with it.

Peyton found a new treat that he loves!! Churros!! YUMMY!
Peyton's 3 most favorite people (besides me, Dan and Bailey, of course).
Peyton has been loving the slides.
Bailey's most recent interest. Everytime I turn around she has her thumb in her mouth, I think it might not be worth fighting.

Mothers

I just finished reading a book called "The Secret Life of Bees". This is one of the books I recieved for the book swap we recently did (thanks again, Erica). I really enjoyed this book for a lot of reasons. Without sounding too cheesy, I felt like Erica was inspired to send me this book. Often while reading it I felt as if it was about me. In so many ways I am like Lily in the story. My mother died when I was young, in a car accident. I never felt like it was my fault, like Lily did, but I have had so many of the same feelings about her since she has been gone and I have grown. I often wonder about how she was. What kinds of things did she enjoy as an adult? What was she like when she was a child, what were some of her favorite things? Did she love me? Am I like her?

Having children has been hard without a mother. I often dream of how it would be to call her up and talk about what I am going through as a mother. I imagine how it would be to have a girls night out with just my sisters and her spending quality time together. I long for her mothers touch and the comforting voice I remember. I think of how different my life would be, had she not died. I miss her so much and I miss the relationship we may have had. I have had many good motherly figures in my life but nothing can replace a mother.

I hope to be the mother to my children that I was never able to have. I hope to be there for them and tell them about my childhood, the things I loved and how I was. I hope to be there for them as they raise their families. I hope to have many fun memories with them. I don't blame my mother at all for dying, I know things happen for a reason. I know I am who I am because of the trials I have endured. I have such an appreciation for motherhood and the importance of this role. I miss my mother so much and am thankful for the memories I do have of her. She was such a beatiful and amazing person and I know I will see her again someday!

Here are some other pictures I found of my sisters and I when we were younger. (I know, I look like a boy!)

4th of July FUN!!

We had a lot of fun on the 4th of July. We started the day with the Riverdale Parade, then we went over to the little parade they have afterward. After the carnival we went to MeeMaw's to swim, eat and be with family. We finished off the day with the Clearfield City fireworks. Peyton and Bailey loved the fireworks, until the finale (it just got a little loud for Bailey's baby ears). We had a great day with our family (and very little distraction from Dan's work duties, thank goodness!!)

Full of smiles

This morning when Bailey woke up she was just full of smiles. It is really hard to make her smile and take a picture at the same time so this is the best I could do. Thought you would all like to see.

And then she had a frowny face (she was hungry).

A comforting hug from her brother.

Sleepy boy

As I mentioned earlier, we blessed Bailey today and we were able to spend the day with our family and friends. Peyton had a fun day playing the Wii and running around which meant he skipped his nap. He was so tired by the end of the night he fell asleep sitting up... again!

Bailey's blessing

Today we blessed our sweet Bailey Sue. Dan gave such a nice blessing. We were very lucky to have lots of friends and family come. Bailey looked so sweet in her beautiful dress made by her Aunt Cindy. Peyton looked pretty spiffy in his black suit.
This blanket was made by Bailey's Aunt Buffy, isn't it so cute! Thanks Aunt Buffy.
