Nursing school...

I had my first day of nursing school yesterday! To be totally honest, I have no idea what they told me. I feel so confused, I hope it all gets sorted out. I was told just to make it to Wednesday and I'll feel a lot better and more organized. Here's to hoping that really works!

Birthday

Just a few pictures from Jackson's birthday.

Jackson Daniel Hoover

Five years ago today I gave birth to our first son, Jackson. It was such a hot Summer and I was miserable, I gained over 50lbs during the pregnancy! This is the entry I wrote in Jackson's journal about his birth...

9/24/03

Jackson,

I am so terrible! You are 1 month old today- You were born on August 24, 2003 at 8:12pm 8lbs 14oz 20 1/2 inches long. I have been meaning to write ever since but haven't, obviously! Anyway, your birth was quite an event, considering what we went through. The doctor was hoping I would go into labor but my cervix wasn't dilating at all. You were getting really big so he wanted me to come in the night before and he would put a catheter into my cervix. So we did and the next morning (the 24th) your dad and I checked into the hospital at 6:00am. I was dilated to a 3 (centimeters) then at about 9:00am they broke my water, that was crazy. The nurse said normally women have about 1/4 as much amniotic fluid as I had. By 11:00am your little head was trying to push through, but I was only dilated about 4cm maybe 4 1/2. I labored all day and at about 6:00pm I was still only dilated 4 1/2 cm. The doctor decided to do a c-section but it would still be a while before I went into surgery. Meanwhile my epidural wore off so I was feeling strong labor pains for about 1 1/2 hours. The anesthesiologist gave me more medicine (finally) and I went in at about 8:00pm. They started the c-section and I could feel a lot of pain. So the doctor gave me more pain meds but I could still feel it, so he gave me more, I could still feel it so he eventually gave me gas that knocked me out.

I heard you cry when they took you out and I asked what color your hair was. All they said was dark. It wasn't for a couple of hours that I actually saw and held you, because I couldn't even see straight when I woke up, I saw triple. I was so happy when I saw you, you were so cute. Your hair is so beautiful, lots of red hair just like Dad. We took you home on the 28th and things have just gotten better since. You are such a good baby. You are sleeping better and longer every night. I think you'll smile soon too.

I love you

Love, Mom

Jackson was a great baby from the start, immediately perfect at nursing and very content with life. He rarely cried and was a great sleeper! As all first time mothers have experienced, Jackson made me feel so happy, each time I held him I enjoyed it more than the time before. He was so special and made me feel so special to be able to be his mother on earth. I love Jackson more than words can say. I miss him so much and often think of what life would be with him here. Today I want to celebrate him being born into this world and into my life.
Happy Birthday Jackson, I love you!

Last bit of Summer fun!

Thursday Dan took work off for Peyton's Dr appointment at Primary Children's and to spend some time with the family at the pool. Peyton's appointment went well, we were getting a second opinion on his lymph nodes which have been enlarged for over 6 months now. The specialist said he wasn't too concerned with them since Peyton doesn't have any other symptoms. We will just be keeping an eye on them for now. We are happy that they wont have to do a biopsy or anything else major for now.

After the appointment we stopped in Bountiful at Pei Wei Asian Diner (very yummy) then over to Paradise Cafe for some awesome cookies, I ate at least 3 by myself on the care ride home! After the food we headed to the Roy Aquatic center for one last Summer swimming fling. School starts for me on Monday so things are about to get really crazy around our house. The kids had a great time swimming with their Dad. He is so fun in the water. I feel bad because this is only the 3rd time they have been able to swim with them this Summer! Oh well though, at least he was able to come with go with us. It was a great time, luckily I have Summers off from school so we will be having a lot of fun next Summer for sure.

Bathroom

We finished our final project for the Summer, our bathroom. We (I) have been wanting to tear down the wallpaper (that didn't match anything) and paint since we bought the house. Since we got married we haven't bought a new shower curtain either (gotta love this jungle look)! I am so excited that it's done and it turned out great.

After

So proud...

We had a great time eating dinner and playing volleyball with the Widdison's and the Blancas' tonight. We haven't gotten together for a while so it was nice to catch up. After it got too dark to see, we headed over to the Blancas' for some desert. That's when the miracle happened... Bailey finally took her first steps on her own! It was pretty late for her (10pm) and she was a little loopy so hopefully she will do some more walking tomorrow! I was so proud of her, I don't know the last time I was more excited about something. I knew she could do it, it was just a matter of her wanting/daring too. We had the camera close by so we got some good footage.

Dan, getting ready for the serve.

Peyton always makes new friends.

What a great girl! She LOVES her Daddy!

Tumbling...

These last couple weeks we have been watching the Olympics non-stop around our house. Peyton has taken a lot of interest, when he saw the gymnastics he was immediately convinced that that's what he wanted to do. I told him we would see if we could get him into a class. After that he asked at least a couple times everyday when his class was and if he could go "now". We found a tumbling place just up the street from our house and he started this last Tuesday. He LOVED it. I set out the camera to bring but of course, I forgot it. Here are the pictures I got with my phone, they aren't very good but their better than nothing.

15 Months...

Bailey just had her 15th month check up. She was off the charts, WAY above the 95% in height and just below the 90% in weight . I was surprised when the Dr. said she was actually "slender" for her height! Bailey has been so fun to have around, her and Peyton laugh and have so much fun together. She still isn't walking but we think she is really close, hopefully within the next month. Bailey has always been really good with her speech, she will try to say pretty much anything we ask her too. Lately she has been singing Patty Cake, it is so funny. I thought I'd post a few recent videos of her.

I was busy making dinner and Bailey was hungry so I had Peyton feed her some applesauce...

They are so funny sometimes!

Slip n slide

I've been meaning to post these videos for almost a month...
We got a slip-n-slide a while ago. I think Dan and I have had more fun on it than the kids have!

Lava Hot Springs

This last week we went camping at Lava Hot Springs with some of our good friends, the Merrills. We all had a great time. The kids love camping and it was nice to go too the pool during the day and play.

When I was younger my Dad was quite the dare devil and he would always pressure me into doing crazy things, like going on scary waterslides or jumping off high things. Everytime we go to Lava I swear I will not be jumping off the platforms. Well... Dan and Mike convinced me to do it this time. So, this one's for you Dad :) Love you and miss you even more!

Here's one of Mike and Dan. They jumped a few times, they were crazy!
